When a soccer game is tied, it is decided by penalties. But what if two players from the same team want to take the set piece? To not have such confusion, managers of the club designate certain players before the game to take important free kicks and penalties during the game.

However, there are occasions when players still collide with each other for taking the set pieces during the game. French league giants PSG faced such incidents hugely because of their star-studded line, and the manager had to come up with a solution. As such, two players from the Scottish club found a better solution on the field in such instances, making fans react.

Soccer fans react to rock, paper, and scissors games on the field

A video has resurfaced on Twitter where two players from the Scottish soccer league decided who will take the free-kick by playing a rock, paper, and scissors game. The incident took place in the game between St. Johnstone and Celtic on Sunday.

It was in the 73rd minute of the game when Johnstone won a free kick just outside the penalty area. Graham Carey and Cammy MacPherson were on the ball and decided to play the rock, paper, and scissors game to decide who will take the free kick. MacPherson won the game and took the free kick to no effect as St. Johnstone was chasing the game and lost 4-1.

However, many fans were disgusted at the players’ decision, as it was a vital part of the game, and the team was trailing. Many labeled it as an act of embarrassment.

One fan slammed the act of players by saying the Sunday league has more intellect than this. Another fan labeled the players as amateurs. The fans want managers to avoid such situations as it makes a terrible reputation for the club and the league in their opinion.
