Cristiano Ronaldo is a symbol of vintage glory still being relevant in the soccer world. The Portuguese superstar defies the conventional notions of age and retirement, running through the soccer longevity marathon with resolute determination. Joining the chorus of voices urging CR7 to continue playing the beautiful game is Otavio, CR7’s peer at Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team claiming, ‘you can never choose the day you stop‘.

While Cristiano Ronaldo is adamant about achieving glory with his domestic side, eyes are on the prize surrounding his international career as well, most likely on the upcoming 2024 Euros.

Al Nassr’s star midfielder, Otavio, recently opened up about Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement plans when asked if the Portugal squad thinks that Euro 2024 could be the last great event for Ronaldo and Pepe. Interestingly, he replied, “Cris always jokes that it’s time to relax, but I’ve already told him you’re going to have a great European Championship and you’re already thinking about the World Cup. In football, you can never choose the day you stop or the day we move here or there.”

Otavio insists that if Cristiano Ronaldo continues to play at the same level, where he’s scoring 50 goals each year, then the veteran ‘will want to continue’ even at 45, ‘if his body can handle it.’ The former Porto man added, “He is not thinking about this matter. Cristiano is thinking about ending the season in a great way with Al Nassr to reach the European Championship well, present a wonderful event, and, God willing, win the title.” Optimism surrounds even Ronaldo’s teammate, as Otavio boldly claims the 38-year-old is still there for the long haul. Notably, the president of the Portugal national team also earlier hinted at CR7’s international future.
