Is Alex Morgan's retirement the end of an era, or the start of something even bigger?

When Emma Hayes dropped Alex Morgan from the USWNT squad, she got the shock of her life. Never would she have imagined not making the squad to compete in the Olympics. Despite all the criticisms from the USWNT fans for not picking Morgan, Emma Hayes went on to lead the team to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Morgan got a reality check. She knows things won’t be the same anymore and she announced her retirement from the game. By making 224 appearances and scoring 123 goals, it’s hard to keep Alex Morgan out of the game. Despite retiring, she has plans to invest in various ventures with her husband, Servando Carrasco. The soccer power couple looks forward to the next chapter of their lives with a second baby incoming.

“I have a lot of things in the works,” mentioned Morgan according to SI, who seemed too busy with her life right now. After their retirement, most soccer players enter into ownership of various soccer clubs. Look at the NWSL clubs. Most of them have former USWNT legends like Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach for Angel City FC. Carli Lloyd, likewise, is a minority owner for NJ/NY Gotham FC. In the same way, Morgan has what it takes to have minority ownership in her club, the San Diego Wave.

One of the notable investments she has is ‘Togethxr.’ Along with snowboarding champion Chloe Kim, Olympic medalist Simone Manuel, and WNBA legend Sue Bird, joined hands ‘Togethxr’ to start a platform to push for brand endorsements and other companies for equal women’s representation. They aim to get more media coverage for women in sports, and these four women excelled in their respective sports.

Likewise, venture capital aims to get the best type of private equity that funds startups and early-stage companies with high growth potential, as Morgan and her husband are interested in the process. It’s one of the best ways to boost your finances as most high-profile celebrities look to invest in this area.

But after all, she is a soccer player, and investing in an NWSL club sounds like the best way to stay in the game. A coaching job might please her later, but, for now, she is looking to build her family and spend time with her loved ones. Hopefully, we can see Alex Morgan on the coaching sidelines like Emma Hayes. Otherwise, we can see her owning a soccer club and winning the NWSL title. Anything can happen.

So what do you think she should do? Let us know in the comments below.
