In 2019, after his stint with French giants AS Monaco, Thierry Henry took the job of MLS side CF Montreal. The Arsenal legend was enjoying his job. However, suddenly the French legend decided to leave his role as a manager. This decision surprised many experts. Now years later, he has revealed the real reason behind leaving.
Since leaving the role, the 46-year-old has been taking up several managerial roles. The fans of the MLS club hope that one day he can return as a manager and lead the team.

While CF Montreal fans were excited for the new season, manager Thierry Henry dropped a bombshell. He announced his decision to leave. This disappointed several fans. Now in an interview, he has revealed why he did it. He said, “We have food we have this way was never getting or saying or nodding or any approval like that. So I pack my bag. I’m like, Okay, time to leave. The next thing you know, I put my bags down. And everyone starts to cry. From the nanny to my girlfriend to the kids, everybody was crying. Then it was Stephen’s turn for the first time. At that moment, it was the little me that felt it. I’m like, Oh, they see me.”
The former CF Montreal manager also revealed that this was the first time he realized that his family was crying for him. French legend also said that he felt very good that he was valued as a human being for the first time. This is the reason he didn’t go for coaching either. The World Cup winner also pointed out that the COVID restrictions at that time had not been lifted. Hence, he could not manage more away from his family.
CF Montreal also said in the statement that they were disappointed to lose the services of Thierry Henry. It is because the 46-year-old stabilized and brought improved results for the club.

The World Cup winner achieved history for the MLS club
After narrowly missing the playoffs in 2019, ahead of the new season, Montreal announced Thierry Henry as the manager. He had been coming to the MLS after getting fired as the AS Monaco manager. Hence, he decided to prove himself as the top manager. Under his guidance, the MLS side reached the playoffs for the first time in four years.
They also reached the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League. This also led to him signing an extension for another season. In the end, the COVID pandemic played spoilsport, which led to him leaving the role after one season.
