With the 2024 Olympics set to take place in Paris, excitement is bubbling over with the prospect of the France Olympics soccer team picking up gold on home turf. France has only won 1 goal medal for soccer in the history of the Olympics which came in 1984, and a silver in 1900.

However, with the nation’s push for gold at Paris 2024 in the balance, whether French superstar Kylian Mbappe will or will not take part in the Olympics for France remains a huge matter of debate. Head coach of the France Olympic team and current coach of the France U21’s Thierry Henry has now had his say on the matter.

According to a recent report in BFM TV’s RMC Sport, Henry revealed that he is yet to speak to Mbappe regarding the PSG star playing for France’s Olympic soccer team.

Speaking about the matter, Henry said, “No, I haven’t spoken to Kylian about it,” “Even though, like everyone else, I’ve heard that he’d like to do them.”

The report further mentions that Henry is vying to win gold at Paris 2024 and that he will start his obligations of managing France’s Olympic soccer team from March onward. The report also elaborates that the French federation is expecting a top four finish but Henry is determined to win gold on home soil.

Meanwhile, for Kylian Mbappe it has been a tough start to the season at PSG after being linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer.

PSG was, of course, humiliated by resurgent English club Newcastle United losing 4-1 to the Magpies at St. James’ Park in the UEFA Champions League. Mbappe was subsequently berated by the media for firing a blank against the English club. He was even dubbed as an ‘arrogant’ player by the French press, to which he then fired shots back ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 clash against Rennes.

Despite PSG winning 3-1 against Rennes, Mbappe once again couldn’t bag a goal or an assist. The French forward has scored 8 goals in 9 games for PSG in all competitions this season, and he has also outperformed his xG of 6.14, but he is enduring a slight purple patch at the moment.
