We know Megan Rapinoe for her outspoken personality and the respect she has for other sports personalities. She recently declared the debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi over after Argentina lifted the trophy. This, however, isn’t the first time she had posted about her respect for other athletes. A few months ago she posted a post to pay tribute to the tennis legends, Serena and Venus Williams. She talked about the impact Williams’s sister had on the sport and how they changed the perspective of society towards women’s sports.

We know Megan Rapinoe for her outspoken nature and her advocacy for equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community. She was also the leading voice in the infamous battle of the USWNT against the US Soccer Federation. They won the same pay and made headlines. She talked about how tennis legends became her icon.

Megan Rapinoe paid tribute to the tennis legends

While posting about Venus and Serena Williams, Megan wrote, “They have been through s*** we could never imagine, rose up, and created big bag empires, and paved the way for every one of us coming behind them. Venus and Serena. Wow!”. The post came after the movie King Richard in which Will Smith played the role of the Williams sisters’ father.

This is not the only moment when Megan has praised the legend of tennis. In September when Serena announced her retirement. USWNT posted a tribute video for her.

Megan got the mic in her hand and said, “you laid the groundwork for so many of us, been such an inspiration, enjoy every last bit, you are the GOAT…” She also dropped the mic after congratulating the star.

Rapinoe and USWNT are the reason for a new bill

Last week a bill was introduced in the house and got passed for the equal pay for equal pay.

Which ensured that everyone representing the USA on the international stage will get equal pay, regardless of gender. The USWNT lawsuit victory against the US Soccer Federation highly inspired this bill.
