Soccer fans are always on the lookout for interesting opinions and bold predictions, especially when they come from players themselves. Wrexham AFC striker Ollie Palmer has ruffled a few feathers in the soccer community after making bold claims about lower-league strikers being able to score 20 goals in the Premier League.
This comes at a time when Wrexham AFC is riding high on their recent National League win. Having won promotion the team is preparing for their next season in EFL League Two. Palmer believes he and many other lower-league strikers will have no problem playing for a team like treble-winners Manchester City.

Manchester City has been enjoying their historic treble-winning season. The English club had won the PL and FA Cup before securing their first-ever Champions League victory. It was a remarkable achievement that saw them carve out a permanent spot in the history of soccer.
Weeks before this achievement Palmer along with other fellow Wrexham teammates sat down in a podcast. Speaking on the podcast, Palmer suggested that most strikers from EFL League One or League Two could easily score goals for Manchester City. He then went on to suggest that center backs also “could do a job in Man City’s team”.

This claim was disputed by his teammate Eliot Lee. Lee challenged him saying, “Yeah, do a job, score 20 goals a season”. Palmer replied saying, “Yeah, but doing your job, isn’t it, as a striker?” This saw a further protest from the Wrexham midfielder who called out his contradictory statement on how on one side he is claiming to score 20 goals and how on the other hand he’s stating it is easier for center backs to keep clean sheets.

The Wrexham striker didn’t back off and replied, “They create so many chances mate”. While it might be tempting for some to dismiss Palmer’s claims as unrealistic, it’s worth noting that anything is possible in soccer. However, it’s also crucial to acknowledge that the skill level, pace, and intensity of the Premier League are on a whole different level. Thus it may not be as easy to score goals in the top tier as Palmer suggests.
