According to Camilla, in Argentina, soccer is not just a sport. This was made clear when she recently appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

Camila’s revelation about Lionel Messi

Morrone, who is of Argentinean descent, was talking about her love for the sport and the recent World Cup win by Argentina. She said, “In Argentina, like soccer is a religion, and they say that there’s the Pope and then there’s Messi. It’s kind of like the same, the same thing”.

Morrone was referring to the fact that Lionel Messi is considered to be a god-like figure in Argentina. The soccer star has been worshipped by fans all over the world, but nowhere more so than in his home country. Messi has achieved almost mythical status in Argentina and is revered by many as the greatest soccer player of all time.

Then Camilla compared the nation’s reaction after winning the world cup to when they lost in the final in 2014. “But yeah, the city was, like, in an upheaval, like a nationwide celebration. And when I went eight years ago, the day that we lost the World Cup final, it was like a national mourning,” Camila revealed.
