Jill Ellis was quick to point out the importance of her team’s success. “As a former coach, you’re like ‘Oh yeah, there’s a game going on,’ but I’m just so proud that there’s 30,000+ in the stands,” Ellis said. “There’s other things now I’m realizing. Success is maximizing what our potential is. How do we do that?”

She further added, “It’s increasing our sponsorship. It’s revenue, it’s making sure our fan experience is going to be innovative and not stale. It’s making sure our community really feels we’re not just expecting them to show up, but we want to show up for them”.

Alex Morgan and The Wave have achieved something big this season. Further testament to this is OL Reingns home opener game against San Diego Wave. The Reigns were successful in achieving a new club home opener attendance record of 9,219.

Not only have they etched their name in history, but they have also set a high bar for the NWSL’s successes in the future. With the league now experiencing its highest attendance figures ever, the success of the San Diego Wave and Alex Morgan are tangible signs of a brighter and more successful future for the NWSL.
