One player who arrived in the MLS from Europe was Riqui Puig. At just 23, he left Barcelona to join LA Galaxy. Despite arriving at the club with much fanfare, he endured various struggles he had experienced in life and took time to adapt to his new surroundings. Although they are the most successful team in the MLS, David Beckham’s former club struggles to find form this season. Despite scoring in the latest record-sellout soccer game between LA Galaxy and LA FC, Puig has displayed some glaring issues. It became a warning for Lionel Messi, who will join Inter Miami soon.
Most franchises are spread across the country, as there will be a lot of traveling involved. Similarly to the NBA, the MLS players travel from the East Coast to the West. It prompted Puig to answer the issues in an interview.

The players travel from different time zones across the United States of America. It takes a toll on them, and the rest factor is an issue. According to Diario AS, Puig stated, “The thing I dislike is the trips and the time changes. I think that for a player sometimes resting well is very difficult, that’s one of the things that have been difficult for me to adapt to.” In Europe, the clubs play league games in the country, and the cities are not far away.
Although the occasional European Champions League games take place, the players would get ample rest and focus on the next match. But traveling to the East or West franchises could take a toll on players with no rest. But that’s the common consensus with all American sports. For Puig, he loves the league and the way it attracts players with Lionel Messi, the latest superstar to enter the MLS. He would probably feel the stress of the MLS following his yesteryears in Europe.
While LA FC is third in the Western Conference, LA Galaxy lies 13th. Despite being the most successful MLS team with five championships, the team is struggling. But the latest rivalry game against LA FC would probably help the team get back to winning ways. The most revered rivalry of the MLS set forth a new benchmark in the league.
