There are a few players that make a team more popular than ever before. In NBA, Michael Jordan was synonymous with the Bulls and Stephen Curry is the face of the Golden State Warriors. The same things can be said about a few soccer clubs. Although both were super teams consisting of multiple great players but Cristiano Ronaldo was the face of Real Madrid and Barcelona was known as the team Messi plays for. It was all before 2021. In 2021, Lionel Messi left Barcelona in a tear-inducing press conference.

Matias said, “I have a SPORT clip that says ‘Messi should return to Barcelona’ and I said, hahahaha, we are not going back to Barcelona, and if we do, we are going to do a good cleaning. Among them, kick out Joan Laporta. People [in Barcelona] did not support him. They should have gone out for a protest or something. Let Laporta leave and Messi stay. The Spanish are traitors. I’m telling this because I want it to come out of our guts”.
This a major setback for the hopes of millions of Barca fans who are praying to be able to see Lionel Messi back at Camp Nou, but judging from the fiery words by Matias, it seems unlikely.
