Every sports fan becomes a critic at some point. They love analyzing the game. While the professional critics are speaking in the pre and post-matches shows on television, the fans have made their own groups to passionately discuss strategy and tactics.
Soccer as a first-choice sport is now developing in America. There has always been this bias towards American soccer fans about them not understanding the game. And about calling it soccer, too.

However, in this case, it was different. The man in the spotlight is former American soccer player Alexi Lalas. Recently, Lalas went viral after he shared some eye-opening suggestions on how to make the game better.
What did Alexi Lalas say?
Lalas took to Twitter to discuss how to make soccer a better game. The former American player first started by sharing his own suggestions. However, it doesn’t look like he got the kind of response he was expecting.
After reading his suggestions, fans from all around the world were left in shock and disbelief. Many fans questioned Lalas’ knowledge of the game even after representing his nation in the 1994 World Cup.
Lalas’ suggestions were simply bizarre. Some of the ridiculous ones were to make the goals bigger and to award 2 points if a goal was scored from outside the penalty area. Let’s examine how some of the fans reacted to Lalas’ suggestions.
Most of the fans thought the suggestions were complete nonsense. One fan called Lalas the ‘Skip Bayless’ of soccer. However, some fans did try to make sense of some of them.

All absolute nonsense… except the 35 yard shootout, which is the hill I will die upon. Would be so much better than penalties. The skill levels are higher, plus imagine the comedy when it’s 9-9 and your big lumbering CB starts to dribble towards goal.

Soccer is on the path of growth
Soccer as a sport is still developing in the U.S. The United States Soccer Federation is taking every possible effort to try to promote the sport. Celebrities like Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria, and many more are also doing the best they can to contribute to the women’s side of the game.
In early 2022, American soccer set a standard for the rest of the world. They declared that male and female soccer players would now be offered equal pay.

The USMNT is also doing its best in every international tournament. The USMNT had a decent World Cup campaign in Qatar. Nobody knew what to really expect from the USMNT because they shockingly failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2018.
However, the game’s viewership in America is now on the rise. Many global soccer superstars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Beckham, and many more have spent a short period playing in America.
