Competition is the virtue of any sport. Not only do fans love these sports but are ready to have feuds with other fan bases. The recent story is also somewhat like that. Who can forget the long-lasting feud that has raged for years? Soccer vs football. The confusion is amazing and the fact that American football isn’t played with feet. The last feud is something very different than those lines. It is a feud between soccer, the NFL, and the NBA. Fan bases of every major sport have come together to talk about soccer.

This isn’t the first time these fan bases are colliding. It has happened multiple times like when soccer fans united to prove the strength of the soccer community. It happened after the finals of the 2022 WC.

Fans argue over NBA and soccer

Fans are always feuding. However, this time the source of the online war is a Journalism website that caused havoc. The firm’s Twitter account Tweeted putting out information about sports like NBA and NFL that not only shocked the fans but it made them retaliate against soccer too.

They tweeted a post saying, “Both NFL & NBA is recognized as an ‘entertainment’ business rather than a sport, and they can legally fix the outcome of games…. Could never be our sport. ⚽️❤️“. To say it outraged fans would be a big understatement. The average response to the tweet can be summed up by a guy who said, “Soccer is the most corrupt sport in the world are you kidding me”.

The post doesn’t provide any substantial evidence to conclude whatever they are saying is true. However, indeed, NBA and NFL usually generate more buzz and entertainment than soccer in the USA. But, that can be attributed more to their popularity rather than their category.

The term and its inception

The term ‘soccer’ was first coined by the British to have a name for association football. It was England who used the term for years and then suddenly decided against using it.
