Over the past few years, the USWNT has enjoyed a majority of success. Not only have they bagged numerous prestigious accolades, but they have also brought about a radical change in the course of history. The fight for equal pay remains one of their most remarkable achievements. Justice was served with the unwavering commitment of Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan. Interestingly, another renowned name has joined their side.
As they continue to represent their nation on the global stage, the USWNT remains the epitome of dominance and glory in women’s soccer. Their equal pay fight may have been won, but it has been reignited by the USWNT star as she follows Rapinoe’s footsteps.

After Rapinoe another star is advocating for the equal pay fight again just days before the World Cup. Carli Lloyd is a name that every American knows. While she may have hung up her boots, the former star continues to work for her national team. Apparently, she is urging sponsors to take action as the campaign for equal pay gains momentum on a global scale, involving FIFA.
While speaking to Fox Office Sports, she said, “Sponsors. I mean, it’s sponsors and revenue, that’s how businesses work. The more sponsors you have on board, the more money you make and the more that can go out for prize money. I don’t know timelines and all that; I just know that it needs to keep getting better.”
Lloyd believes that the more sponsors the team gets, the more the prize money will increase. The two-time World Cup winner may be pleased with the equal pay win but believes her fellow countrywomen can get paid more. Surprisingly, Lloyd was one of the five WNT players to submit a complaint to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2016, alleging wage discrimination.
Nevertheless, it seems the fight has been reignited by Lloyd. It remains to be seen how she manages to onboard sponsors for the team. While the off-pitch efforts continue, on the pitch, the USWNT continues its preparations for the upcoming tournament.
