The USWNT superstar Alex Morgan is one of the age-defying athletes. Morgan has been a standout soccer player, Like Megan Rapinoe, for her progressive views. The two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner was an integral part of the team that fought against the US Soccer Federation over equal pay.

She is also one of the few athletes who opted for the vegan diet. Morgan revealed that she was taking a vegan diet back in 2019. She also spoke about her philanthropic activities back then when she won the World Cup with USWNT. Her love for animals made Morgan opt for a vegan diet, and now she loves it.

Morgan was an integral part of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup-winning USWNT team. They beat the Netherlands in the finals to clinch the coveted trophy. Before her World Cup-winning campaign, she sat down with Reuters to discuss various aspects, including her philanthropic activities.
“The main focus is kids and animals,” Morgan said when asked about where she spends her philanthropic time. She also detailed her work for kids. “I do a lot of work with Boys & Girls Clubs, and I’m an ambassador for UNICEF.” Morgan joined UNICEF Kid Power as a UNICEF Kid Power Champion in 2016. The program focuses on fighting global malnutrition among kids and creating awareness.

The San Diego wave forward also opened up about her love for animals and a vegan diet. She said, “I also support the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), because I am passionate about giving animals a voice. I even adopted a vegan diet because it didn’t feel fair to have a dog I adore and yet eat meat all the time.”
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) named Morgan the most beautiful vegan celebrity in 2019, alongside NBA star Kyrie Irving. She went vegan for the love of animals and is continuing the same diet.

It was not that the change was sudden. Morgan used to eat meat until she turned vegan. When the trend of vegan food started, her love for animals made her go with the trend. She tried it and assessed whether it affected her game. Once she was sure it doesn’t affect her physically, she started eating plant-based food.
Morgan is gearing up for the new NWSL season that is commencing on March 26. She will look forward to helping San Diego Wave FC and up her game. NWSL comes as an opportunity to continue her form ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup this year in July and August.
