The official Twitter handle of Canal 11 recently released a small clip from their upcoming documentary. In the clip, fans can see Pepe talking about his conversation with Cristiano Ronaldo after winning UEFA Champions League in 2014 with Real Madrid. The final took place in Lisbon. The city where Ronaldo started his soccer journey.

Talking about the conversation on the Estadio da Luz, Pepe said“When in 2014 we won the Champions League – and it was my first – I said to Cristiano, ‘Fire, we need to win a title for Portugal.'” He revealed the response of the former Manchester United talisman, “And he’s like, ‘Pepe, that’s the dream, to win a title for my country.'”

“So, we were at the table on game day eating and he would look at me and say, ‘Pepe, the food isn’t coming down, is it?’ And I’m like, ‘No, bro.’ Of nervousness, it’s not. And it even thrills,” Pepe added. Two years later, the dream of Ronaldo and Pepe came true. Portugal beat France in the final of Euro 2016, despite the five-time Ballon d’Or winner missing a significant part of the game due to injury in the first half.

It took two more years for the Portuguese to win their second international trophy for the nation. Portugal beat the Netherlands in the final of the UEFA Nations League.
