The first reason was PSG’s political decisions, and the second reason was the hatred Messi received from Saudi Arabian fans. Balague said in the podcast, “Something changed from the PSG point of view. All of a sudden, their approach was different. All of a sudden, they wanted to get rid of Neymar. The idea was because of financial reasons but also for political reasons. They decided to have French players, players more dedicated to the academy.

He later explained what happened when Messi considered the prospect of signing a Saudi club. He continued, “We got to a point where Lionel Messi goes to Saudi Arabia… At that point, it was like, ‘No, we cannot continue here.’ The fans were against him.Eventually, the doors of Saudi Arabia and PSG were shut in front of Messi, and that’s when he received a whopping offer of $50 million to $60 million per year from Inter Miami. Currently, Messi seems content with his current club, and they even celebrated his historic eighth Ballon d’Or victory.
