It was in the summer of 2020 when Premier League giants Chelsea signed Kai Havertz. The left-footed playmaker signed for the Blues from the German side Bayer Leverkusen. During his time in the Bundesliga, the attacking midfielder impressed a host of clubs around Europe. However, it was Chelsea who signed the talented youngster for a considerable transfer fee. Since then, the player has enjoyed a stellar time with the Londoners, with the highlight of his time with Chelsea coming in the 2021 Champions League final where he scored the winning goal. However, despite his pivotal role in the team, the German international adorns the headlines, often for weird reasons. It was the same case recently, as Havertz revealed, that he has an uncontrollable sugar tooth.

Chelsea star reveals being a sugar freak shocking fans

Recently, Kai Havertz opened up about his poor diet. The star revealed, “I’m a total sugar freak. Last summer I hired a nutritionist to eat more ‘professional’. I didn’t feel good at all and after half a season I returned to eating gummy bears and Skittles at half-time. Now I feel full of energy again.”

This statement left soccer fans in shock, who couldn’t believe Havertz’s claim. The statement has opened the door for Havertz to receive slamming from the soccer world. One fan said, “Kai “the donkey-lover-sugar-freak” Havertz.” Another one said, “New Haribo donkey gummies coming to shops near you.”

It seems fans got creative in giving names to the German international, “Freaky sugar donkey lover.” Another said, “The German Lamar Odom.” One joked, “Does he know that gummy bears are made of boiled donkey bones??”

While many were busy name-calling Havertz, some even gave their own testimonials. One said, “Havertz probably sneaks a bite of the pitch when he goes to the ground.” While, another fan said, “the secret to scoring Champions League winning goals.”

A move back to Germany?

While the player is currently enjoying his time in England, Havertz continues to get linked with a host of clubs around Europe. However, the player is getting strong interest back from Germany.

Several reports suggest that the player is currently under the radar of his former side’s rival: Bayern Munich. Chelsea is reportedly asking the Bavarians a fee of $110 million. However, the German club’s CEO Oliver Kahn has cleared the air regarding his arrival at Allianz Arena.

“It doesn’t make sense to mention it right now. As I said, our focus is fully on this season and not on future topics. We are not discussing new signings with Tuchel now,” said Kahn.
