As the dust begins to settle following Wrexham’s promotion to EFL League Two, the excitement and anticipation for the next phase of the club’s journey is palpable. Since the arrival of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as new owners of Wrexham AFC, the club has seen a significant change in the form of success on the field and a newfound spirit that has kept the team moving forward.
The National League title win and promotion to EFL League Two are evidence of that. Following this feat, former Wrexham manager Dean Saunders is firm in the belief that the team can continue their high spirit and achieve back-to-back promotions.

Saunders, who was in charge of the club from 2008 to 2011, expressed his belief that Wrexham could continue their impressive winning ways. In a recent podcast interview, Saunders spoke glowingly of the Wrexham team’s impressive feat in the National League. He commended them for their unwavering determination and spirit, which he believes they can carry on to the higher leagues.
“I think the club’s going to go up and up and up,” he said. “I always thought if I can get Wrexham into League Two, I can get them into the Championship because you can carry the spirit on it that you got,” Saunders added. Saunders’ unwavering belief in the team’s capability is based on his own experience of managing the team. Although he was unable to win the promotion, he is convinced that the current crop of players is more than capable of repeating success and going even further.
“I honestly believe now that they can win League Two and win League One back-to-back,” Saunders boldly predicted. He believes Wrexham can continue their winning ways to reach the EFL Championship. “It might not happen, but I think they can because of what you’ve put in place,” he added.
Saunders’ bold predictions may seem like a daunting task. But with a clear vision and a team working together towards a common goal, it is entirely possible. This is not the first time Dean Saunders has made this claim. He has a long history of commending Wrexham and making bold claims.

Saunders believes winning League Two is easier than National League
During an interview last month, Saunders discussed Wrexham’s promotion to League Two and expressed his confidence in the Welsh side’s ability to claim the title. The former Wales international shared that he believes it is easier to win League Two than the National League. He did so while citing the fact that only one team is promoted from the latter league.
He also noted that there isn’t much of a difference in terms of player standard, as “Wrexham players have all played higher up”. In his professional opinion, winning League Two won’t be much of a challenge for Wrexham after their recent victory in the National League.
