The referee awarded a penalty to Real Madrid for a foul on Vinicius Jr, and Benzema scored from the spot calmly to make it 3-0. Benzema completed his hat-trick from a brilliant Vinicius Jr pass in the 81st minute to put the tie beyond Barcelona and book a place in the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna.
