Alex Morgan‘s retirement is unleashing her boundless influence. The USWNT star who helped both her country and her clubs touch new horizons has now set a new milestone while departing from the sport. Morgan recently announced that she will officially not play any professional games, leaving the soccer world bewildered. And while tonight’s NWSL game versus the two-time champions North Carolina Courage will be her final spell, whether or not she scores, she has already added another landmark to her portfolio.
You may know her as NWSL’s fourth-highest goalscorer, but she’s now tumbling records off the pitch. It is the first time in women’s sports history that a women’s sporting event will be broadcast live simultaneously on national television on multiple media networks. The game will be shown on CBS Sports Network, Paramount+, NWSL+, Prime Video, ESPN2, and ESPN+ throughout the USA tonight. Set to take place at Wave’s fortress, the Snapdragon Stadium, the match will kick off at 1700 hrs PST/2000 hrs ET.
Initially, the game was set to be shown just on NWSL+ and Paramount+, but the occasion being momentous, NWSL had to arrange for greater coverage. “Alex Morgan has had an immeasurable impact on both the NWSL and the global soccer community – and she has inspired generations of players and fans around the world,” stated the league’s commissioner, Jessica Berman, who was always thoughtful about innovating the procedures.

While Morgan won’t be a part of the league after tonight, she will be proud of partaking in NWSL’s revolution. The American League struck a $240 million deal with 4 media giants—CBS, ESPN, Amazon, and Scripps—helping this feat. Earlier, appreciating the CBA agreement, Morgan will be proud to see where the NWSL stands while she hangs her boots. However, the attention will be on tonight’s game, which will celebrate her contributions over the years.
