Sophia Smith praises NWSL's CBA deal—Is this the breakthrough women's soccer needed?

In terms of the fastest-growing leagues in the world, people would say the German men’s soccer league is picking up pace. But if you combine the women’s and men’s leagues, there is only one winner – NWSL. The women’s league in the U.S.A. is picking pace within the soccer fraternity. They have world-class investments, new rules and regulations, and other features to make the league a better place for players. Hence, Sophia Smith voiced her satisfaction regarding, the new CBA deal.

“That’s what you want. That’s what you want in this league, that’s what you want in any league, in any sports league. So it’s exciting and enough credit couldn’t go to everyone who helped make it happen,” Sophia Smith mentioned in the excitement of the new league.

The player part of the much-fabled ‘Triple Espresso’ detailed what she thought of the new rules and regulations. More often, fans complain about the American sports leagues having no player-friendly rules. Yet, things are changing. Smith spoke to CBS Sports regarding the new set of rules.

She explained, “I’ve seen the growth, and even the five, six years I’ve been in this league, from when it when I started here, and it’s been just insane.” Yes, in terms of investments, the league saw Serena Williams, actor Natalie Portman, and Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, all investing in the NWSL. The urge to make women’s sports great is something remarkable and fans should support these teams.

Sophia Smith continued, “So I can only imagine it’s going to continue to grow so much, and that’s just so good for everyone, and I’m so excited for the even younger generations to be able to be a part of it and just have a better situation than even I had because I had a better situation than the older players.”

Sophia Smith believes NWSL is booming!

The CBA introduced new rules on how players have the power to choose their franchise rather than getting drafted. The draft system became a critical aspect of all American sports. If a player’s contract expires, they have the freedom to negotiate with another team. The league also decided to improve travel policies and maternity leaves for players.
