Wrexham FC owner Ryan Reynolds is famous worldwide for his characterization of fan-favorite Deadpool. What a few people don’t know is in a strange way, Deadpool has more impact on Ryan’s life. Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney spoke with fans a while ago.
They played the video of it during an event to honor the Canadian actor. The co-owner of Wrexham FC, Rob McElhenney, delivered a mind-blowing monologue about the respect he has for his partner. But that wasn’t the best part of the video. It is always Deadpool.

Ryan and Rob were at the 36th Annual American Cinematheque awards and their documentary titled ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ won the critics’ choice award for a best sports documentary. The Canadian star co-produced it with his partner Rob.
The Deadpool connection of Wrexham
They discussed the Deadpool connection in the documentary. While talking to fans during the shooting, Ryan and Rob were addressing the fans and answering the question. A kid stoop up and asked the connection these fine gentlemen had with Wrexham.
The question was first acknowledged by Rob, who said, “We had no direct connection, it was just a feeling“. While Rob denied any connection between them and the club apart from the feeling they had, the kid gave his logic and what he thought the connection was. The kid said, “What made my dad think was because Wrexham’s red, Deadpool’s red.” To be honest, the connection doesn’t seem to be so far-fetched.
Being the goofy and sarcastic personality Ryan is, he quickly jumped in, accepted the defeat, and admitted the truth. He said, “That’s the real reason… sorry“. Although it was just a joke, I and many fans wouldn’t be surprised if that is the actual reason why Ryan had bought Wrexham FC.

Ryan said, “… So I just let him know. We kind of became friends, like text friends. We never actually met or anything like that. So then one day Rob sends me an email that outlines his plan to buy a lower-league club and grow it into something more resembling a global force..”
Now that Wrexham is in good hands, we are hoping for the same fate for NHL’s Ontario Senators. Ryan is trying his best to be in the ownership group and it seems like the Canadian actor will make it.
