Megan Rapinoe thinks a three-peat will be an outstanding achievement
While speaking about the possible three-peat this year in the World Cup, Rapinoe said, “three-peat is, like, iconic.” She was speaking to WBD sports analyst Julie Foudy ahead of the second game against Japan in the SheBelieves Cup. Foudy played for USWNT between 1988 to 2004. She is a two-time FIFA World Cup winner and two-time Olympic Gold medalist.
“I think in professional sports that’s like a gold standard. It’s so difficult. Winning one is so difficult, winning two is so difficult. I don’t want to talk about it too much, but I obviously know that it’s a big motivator. I don’t want to talk about it too much, but we know what’s on the line,” Rapinoe added while speaking on the three-peat.
Rapinoe can play in her fourth World Cup this year. The OL Reigns forward has won the coveted trophy twice in 2015 and 2019 and will hope to complete the three-peat this year. Rapinoe feels there will be pressure of the three-peat on the team. USWNT will be eyeing its fifth World Cup trophy when it kicks off in July.

USWNT kept their dominance going in the SheBelieves Cup this year. They have won it for a record sixth time since its inception in 2016. Only France (2017) and England (2019) are the other teams to win it. It was also their fourth consecutive SheBelieves title.
They started this year’s campaign with a 2-0 win over Canada. In the next game, they scraped past Japan 1-0. The 2-1 win against Brazil meant USWNT kept a 100% record in lifting the trophy. Mallory Swanson was named MVP for the tournament as she scored four of the five team’s goals.
