Soccer has its own delightful anomalies. From Maradona’s controversial handball to Kepa Arrizabalaga’s unfortunate own goal with his face, players distinguished themselves for various reasons. But there is Erling Haaland, who can do anything on the pitch to score goals. The Norwegian won the game for Manchester City yesterday and claims a weird milestone.

Slowly but definitely, teams are getting well-versed with Pep Guardiola’s tactics. After two losses this season, City drew with Chelsea yesterday, giving other teams hope. But one thing that remains constant for the Sky Blues is Haaland’s scoring. But this time, he takes some humor from the goal.

Yesterday, goal-scoring took another form, with Haaland scoring the second goal for Manchester City bizarrely. The 23-year-old scored the goal partly unorthodoxly. Haaland scored when Reece James’ resistance put him down, and the momentum took the ball inside the post with his ‘balls.’ Haaland, however, saw the humorous side of it. In a post-match interview with Viaplay, Haaland commented, “I have never scored with my balls before. So that is a milestone.”

The Ballon d’Or runner-up claimed that it was the first time he scored such a goal and recorded a milestone in his career. The City Star is, however, not short on achievements. Haaland took the Premier League by storm last season, becoming the highest scorer in a single Premier League season. This year looks no different, with him scoring almost every game with a tally of 13 goals in 12 games.

Haaland has already pledged to continue his last year’s form into this season and plans to repeat the treble. The UEFA Player of the Year 2023 also said in the interview that he does not think much about records and is happy that the team is on top of the table. However, his brace helped the team draw the thriller at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City missed out in the dying minutes

With the game running to either end every minute, it was Chelsea who kept their composure in the last minutes. City took the lead in the 25th minute thanks to a penalty Haaland earned for himself. But Chelsea immediately returned with Thiago Silva’s astonishing header to the far corner to equalize.

Since then, the game has been nothing short of a labyrinth. After being 4-3 ahead at 90 minutes, Manchester City’s Ruben Diaz finally faltered to take down Armando Broja in the box. Cole Palmer City’s former player did the rest by knocking the penalty to the right of the goalkeeper. In the end, Erling Haaland had the last laugh!
