Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t been at his best this season with Manchester United. He played an important role for the Red Devils last season and guided them to the Europa League. If not for his goals, United would have struggled for the European spots last season. While Ronaldo is still an important player for this national team, now it seems his club doesn’t want him anymore. The 37-year-old star recently lashed out at the club and manager Erik Ten Hag in an interview with Piers Morgan.

Earlier this season, it was reported that Manchester United‘s new manager, Erik ten Hag, didn’t want Ronaldo at the club. Several top clubs were linked with a move to sign him this off-season. However, due to his high salary and some other complications, United failed to transfer him.

“I don’t have respect for him [Ten Hag] because he doesn’t show respect for me,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan. “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

“Not only the manager but the other two or three guys who are around the club [at the senior executive level]. I felt betrayed. I don’t care, people should listen to the truth. Yes, I felt betrayed. I feel that some people didn’t want me here, not only this year but last season too.”

Fans upset at Cristiano Ronaldo for his recent comments on the club and Erik ten Hag

Ronaldo is an outspoken athlete and never stops himself from speaking his mind. He recently appeared in an interview with Piers Morgan and talked about the current season with United. However, his comments didn’t go down well with some United fans, who took to Twitter to react to the interview.

Following are some of the reactions to Ronaldo’s interview:

A lot has happened in the United camp since the summer. Ten Hag has benched Ronaldo in several games, with the 5-time Balon d’Or winner getting just a few mins off the bench. The player even stormed off the bench in United’s win vs Tottenham in the Premier League for not being substituted in during the game.

Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager of the United during Ronaldo’s last stint with the Red Devils. In his autobiography, he mentioned that the minute a United player thought he was bigger than the manager; he had to go. However, he said this in reference to David Beckham‘s abrupt departure from United in the early 2000s. Many fans have taken note of SAF’s statement in the context of Ronaldo’s current situation at United.
