The Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian-owned soccer club has always been in the limelight. That is simply due to their high-profile owners like Eva Longoria, Jennifer Garner, and many more.

Just days ago, they dropped points in another game in the NWSL. Washington Spirit’s Ashley Hatch scored a last-minute penalty and shut shop.

While it was a disheartening experience for the fans, Alexis Ohanian gave them a reason to smile through a surprise announcement.

Alexis Ohanian has attended most of Angel City FC’s matches. Out of all the owners, Serena Williams’ husband interacts the most with the fans. The Reddit co-founder is forever active on social media. He does not shy away from having an open conversation with the fans. Just hours ago, the co-founder made a special announcement on Instagram for the fans.

Ohanian made the announcement through a new account namely @thegrandcommunity. He posted a video of himself standing at the sidelines on the soccer pitch. With the whole stadium cheering in the background, Serena Williams’ husband said, “Something grand is coming!”. At the end of the short clip, a small banner emerged on the screen.

It asked the fans to stay tuned on this page. The post also hinted at a major announcement next week. Everyone is still wondering if this will be a soccer-related announcement. That is simply because Angel City FC already has a provision for season ticket holders.

He made this announcement just days after his team tragically lost in the last minute against Washington Spirit.

Angel City FC lose to Trinity Rodman’s Washington Spirit

In all honesty, it hasn’t been a good start for Angel City FC. Seemingly, their strike force hasn’t got going yet. Every fan has had their eyes set on Alyssa Thompson since the LA-based club acquired her from the NWSL draft. After a thrilling 3-2 win against Kansas City Current last week, Angel City FC then faced Trinity Rodman and her team with much more confidence.

However, they couldn’t manage to get back the ball past the goalkeeper. In the end, Spirit ended up snatching the game in the dying minutes. Without a doubt, the LA-based club has enough time to bounce back in the league. After finishing eighth last season, the jury is still out there on their final position on the points table by the end of this season.
