The San Diego Wave faced Kansas City Current and lost the game 1-2. However, one incident that fans remember is the brutal tackle on Alex Morgan. The player remains a crucial aspect of the team and leads the way. But she suffered an injury in stoppage time and limped off from the match. The team lost seven games in the NWSL already, and Morgan’s injury is a cause for concern. Despite that, her rival team’s owner sends her some flowers.

With NWSL set to take the country by storm, many investors line up to own soccer franchises. One such owner is Alexis Ohanian and his wife, Serena Williams. They own Angel City soccer club but want the entire league to get recognition apart from their own team. Therefore, Ohanian took to Instagram to appreciate Morgan after the horror challenge.

In his Instagram story, Ohanian posted a picture of Alex Morgan with a fan wishing to see her play. He captioned it, “All Love for @alexmorgan13 even if she plays for @sandiegowavefc.” The photograph he posted was that of a fan with breast cancer, presenting her bucket list of things to do. After ticking off meeting her favorite WNBA player, Kelsey Plum, she wanted to get the best seats in the house for a San Diego Wave match.

After that, she wanted to meet Alex Morgan, her favorite soccer player, as Morgan took a selfie with the fan. It became a hallmark picture for all the fans as Morgan’s iconic selfie was celebrated everywhere. Ohanian dedicated the story after the player was at the wrong end of a nasty tackle. Kansas City defender Stine Ballisager Pedersen made a strong tackle on the USWNT player, which left her fuming. Not even a yellow card, nor a penalty, was awarded for the challenge.

Morgan posted on X, “In what world is this not a penalty and red card, or even foul? Completely reckless and the leg going in for the tackle doesn’t even get a ball when I cut her? Just glad I saw her coming and didn’t plant on that leg or I’d 100% not be walking today.”
