Wrexham is finally showing signs of resurgence. After 15 years of exile, the club is finally back in the Football League. Thanks to the efforts of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the club is enduring one of its best times in recent history. All set for League Two, Reynolds has already started drawing up plans for the next season. The Red Dragons are looking to bolster their squad in order to increase their chances of survival and perhaps, winning the league.

In an attempt to boost their attacking ranks, the Deadpool star and McElhenney are convincing Gareth Bale to sign for them. However, the player swiftly rejected his chance to join the Dragons, sending fans into a frenzy.

Both Reynolds and McElhenney did their utmost for Bale to join them at Racecourse Ground. The actors even made golf promises to Bale, but the former Los Blancos man’s recent statement might be a huge blow for the aspiring owners.

When asked about joining Wrexham, the player said, “I don’t think so (play for Wrexham). I was looking more for a free round of golf off Rob (McElhenney). I’m quite happy where I am…enjoying family life and playing some golf.”

One fan said, “Can’t blame him for taking golf over getting tackled to death in League 2.” Another said, “He should focus on his family and golf rather than playing in League 2.” One more also joined the conversation saying, “Same reason he left LAFC after they qualified for CONCACAF Champions League.”

Another fan made a huge claim about Bale, “Gareth Bale would do unspeakable things in League 2.” However, this individual was instantly shut down with a cheeky comment, “More likely a League Two defender would do unspeakable things to his ankle about five minutes into his debut.”

It seems many in the soccer community are convinced by his obsession with golf and it is unlikely he will return to soccer. Indeed, it is a heartbreak for both owners, who were looking forward to this ambitious transfer.

A heartbreak for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney

In a state of emergency, Reynolds had convinced the retired Ben Foster to join his club. The player agreed and helped Wrexham clinch success. Something the owners were looking to repeat in the case of Bale. Even after making promises such as, “shaving a professional-grade golf course into Rob’s back” didn’t do the trick.

The player made his feelings quite clear after his statement. It seems he wants to stick to his decision to keep his boots hung up. Either way, Reynolds and McElhenney will be looking to shift their eyes to other alternatives.
