Jude Bellingham is making headlines for reasons beyond his recent triumph. The young Englishman, fresh off celebrating his Champions League victory with Real Madrid over his former club Borussia Dortmund, has stirred a controversy with his post-match comments laced with swear. As the soccer world continues to react, England’s icon Alan Shearer also finds his remarks quite ‘unbelievable.’

In the latest episode of ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast while talking about Carlo Ancelotti and Co.’s historic 15th UCL triumph, Micah Richards brought Bellingham into the discussion. He revealed that during the CBS Sports Champions League program, Thierry Henry questioned the midfielder regarding people talking about him more on the ball rather than what he does off the ball. Surprisingly enough, Jude replied, “I don’t really give a sh*t what everyone thinks.”

While Richards went in stitches as he narrated this incident, Alan Shearer was seemingly astonished. The legendary Newcastle United striker replied, “Fancy that the kids of today swearing far too much, unbelievable!” Interestingly, this led host Gary Lineker to fire a hilarious taunt to Shearar: “At least we don’t. We set a good example, especially you, Alan.”

It seems Shearer is quite startled to see the bluntness in responses of young talents, who are no less than role models for the younger generations. Perhaps the former Premier League striker wants Bellingham to release the gravity of his words that can create regarding his image within the fans. Yet, despite the criticism, Lineker came in support of the former Dortmund man, heaping praise over his quality.

Jude Bellingham can ‘drag England over the line,’ believes Gary Lineker

Gary Lineker was in awe of Jude Bellingham, insisting that the 23-year-old works ‘really hard.’ Even though the midfielder wasn’t involved much in the final of the game, the pundit believes that ‘this kid is a winner,’ having won La Liga as well as the Champions League in the first season, as he ‘bossed things’ for the Spanish capital. Lineker then revealed how his self-improvement is more beneficial for the England national team.

“I think that’s a good result probably even for England looking at it and a slightly selfish perspective rather than a Real Madrid perspective because he’s the sort of player that can probably drag England over the line,” added Lineker. The ex-Barcelona forward urged Gareth Southgate to play Bellingham as a No. 8, a double pivot alongside Declan Rice, and put Phil Foden at No. 10 instead in the upcoming Euros.

Despite shocking everyone with his words, Jude Bellingham has proved that he has come quite far. Let’s see how further he achieves things in the upcoming international duty.
