“Supremely Arrogant, Annoyingly Self-Aggrandizing” – After Donald Trump’s Mocking of Megan Rapinoe, $20,000,000 Rich Journalist Tears Into USWNT After World Cup Exit

The criticism is flowing freely toward USWNT after the underwhelming FIFA World Cup campaign. From Carli Lloyd to Donald Trump, everyone is letting their emotions flow toward the US team and Megan Rapinoe. And amid all the scrutiny, $20 million worth of British broadcaster has taken the condemnation to new heights. 

The FIFA World Cup campaign wasn’t great on and off the field. Rapinoe announced the retirement from international soccer ahead of the start. The team finished with their worst group stage points tally. Moreover, the players sparked the national anthem row and got knocked out of the round of 16 for the first time. Famous British broadcaster tore apart USWNT and Rapinoe, citing this.

Piers Morgan’s stinging USWNT criticism

Morgan wrote an opinion piece for the New York Post after USWNT’s dismal World Cup campaign. The broadcaster famous for his Piers Morgan Uncensored was brutal while evaluating the USWNT performances. However, his primary target was retiring soccer superstar and OL Reign forward Megan Rapinoe. “It was peak Rapinoe: Supremely arrogant, annoyingly self-aggrandizing, and all about the money…,” wrote Piers Morgan.

He targeted her for laughing after her penalty miss. Morgan shifted towards the team then. Accordingly, the current USWNT team is the poorest of all USWNT teams to have played in the World Cup. “The team isn’t ‘something special.’ In fact, in terms of performance, it’s the worst USWNT team in history,” the British broadcaster wrote. He cited the reasons behind the take by pointing out the worst points tally in the group stage and the first US Women’s team to crash out at the round of 16 stage.

He tore into the claims of inspiring the team with grit and determination. Piers Morgan wrote, “As for supposedly inspiring Americans with their ‘grit and determination,’ I very much doubt a single American felt inspired to open a bag of chips after watching USWNT’s trainwreck World Cup campaign.” That’s some harsh criticism after Donald Trump’s scathing attack.

Trump labels the defeat as ‘Woke Equals Failure’

From calling her dad out to vote for Trump to rejecting Trump’s White House invitation, Rapinoe has always taken on the former President. The reason is the difference in the ideologies between the two. Their famous Twitter war during the 2019 World Cup caught the world’s attention, where Trump asked the forward to win first and then talk. Rapinoe responded in style by winning World Cup, FIFA Best Player, and Ballon d’Or in 2019.

However, it was the turn of Trump this time. He took to the Truth Social App and labeled the ‘shocking and totally unexpected defeat’ as ‘Woke Equals Failure.’ And while firing a shot at Rapinoe, he wrote, “Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA.” It seems the former President settled the score.
