Ronaldo was a free agent after he and Manchester United parted ways on a mutual agreement. The move came after Ronaldo’s open criticism of the team and management. Saudi Arabian club jumped instantly at the chance and offered him a mind-blowing amount to join. However, recent revelations suggest that the club might have external support.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo went on to talk about how players and coaches did not respect him. He put up questions on the management and said that he will not apologize for walking off the pitch during a match against Tottenham.

Al-Nassr had Government support

Cristiano Ronaldo has joined the Saudi Arabian Club Al-Nassr for 2.5 years. The deal will cost the club a whopping 200 million annually. The club can feel the effect of having him as their social media accounts doubled the followers within a day after proclaiming his arrival. Everyone is busy congratulating the star and the club, including the government officials. However, in the middle of it all, one Saudi Arabian official has hinted about the government’s involvement in their soccer league.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, talked about the Portuguese star joining the club. He wrote, “Happy with the presence of one of the best players in the world to start his new career in Saudi Arabia. Welcome @Cristiano to the kingdom and we will support the rest of our clubs for qualitative deals with international stars soon.

It is clear that Saudi Arabian Govt. is doing its best to make its league internationally recognized and well-known. Al-Nassr got Cristiano Ronaldo and reportedly offered Sergio Busquets to play alongside him. The kingdom is also planning to bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
