‘Sunk’ and ‘Hurt’ by Shakira’s Departure With Kids, Gerard Pique’s Mother Wants To ‘Regain the Affection’ of Grandchildren

Gone are the days when Shakira and Gerard Pique were linked with the idea of love. Now, however, it stands for the drama-filled breakup between the international music icon and the Spanish soccer legend. Having first met in 2010, the couple seemed to have a match made in heaven as they were together for 11 years and had two sons, Milan and Sasha.

To many of their fans, they looked like a perfect family until the breakup shocker in June 2022. Although the drama between Shakira and Gerard Pique has been escalating ever since they announced their split, the highlight of this drama is Shakira’s relationship with Pique’s mother, Montserrat Bernabeu.

According to reports, Shakira had asked her children to stop calling Montserrat Bernabéu “ona,” as they had previously referred to her.

This obviously deeply hurt the Pique family’s matriarch. Pique’s mother even felt “sunk” and “very sad” by the situation.

Sources soon after revealed that Montserrat Bernabeu is hoping to win back her grandkids’ affection. Reports claim that Pique’s mother has asked her son to stop “provoking” the situation. Bernabéu has expressed her desire to “regain the affection” of her grandchildren.

However, things have only gotten progressively worse for the mother of the ex-Barcelona player. As come April, Shakira left Barcelona with the two children to live in Miami. Now it has become nearly impossible for her to win the love of her grandchildren from across the ocean.

All in all, the drama between Shakira and Gerard Pique is escalating to the point that it has affected the relationship of the couple’s children with their paternal grandmother.
