Jadon Sancho’s journey at Manchester United has hit a brick wall. Ever since a high-profile move from Borussia Dortmund, the England international has failed to meet expectations. But the spotlight has shifted towards his boss Erik ten Hag, who has been slammed by the brother of Red Devil’s legend, Rio Ferdinand, over ‘treating Jadon that way‘ but ignoring Marcus Rashford, who has ‘done something similar‘.
The criticism came during ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents Five’, where the panel of Flex, Anton Ferdinand, Joel Beya, and Abbi Summers discussed rumors of Jadon Sancho returning to Germany. Anton revealed that he garnered criticism for saying, ‘I hope he goes. Free Sancho’ after he came across a picture of Sancho getting a haircut which said, ‘Fresh trim, ready for Dortmund.’ Interestingly, Anton’s stance didn’t change even in the podcast.
He said, “From the start, I’ve always said what Jadon has done in terms of defending his honor about his work ethic and then going to New York and partying. Is he stupid for doing that? 100%. My grievance is always been the double standards from ten Hag treating Jadon that way, but Rashford’s done something similar. I think it could be worse, in my opinion.” While it led to a healthy dispute with Flex, Anton insisted on comparing both Sancho and Rashford.

Aside from highlighting Sancho’s behavior of turning up late, not training, and performing well, he said, “Rashford held the club at ransom for a new deal, one of your highest earners. Has he been good after signing a new deal? No, right?” Indeed, these are some bold claims from the former Queens Park Rangers star. Earlier, an ex-Chelsea star slammed Sancho for not helping the club.

After Alejandro Garnacho secured a 3-2 victory for Manchester United against Aston Villa with his two goals, ESPN pundit Craig Burley criticized Sancho. He suggested that the English player is not acknowledging his mistakes and is instead ‘twiddling his thumb‘. According to Burley, Sancho is ‘wasting his career’ while younger teammates take the lead and help the under-pressured Erik ten Hag.
“If I were a professional, I wouldn’t be sitting at home happy about that. I’d be sitting at home embarrassed with myself that I’m sitting watching a kid do what he’s done,” said Burley. Notably, the winger has been absent from the field since a substitute appearance against Nottingham Forest in August, following a public disagreement with his manager.
