“Strongest Woman I’ve Ever Known” – Husband Dansby Swanson, Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd Join Hundreds in Reacting to Mallory Swanson’s ‘Shock’ Update After Surgery

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is just around the corner. As teams gear up for the competition, one player who would certainly miss it is Mallory Swanson. She suffered a severe injury to her knee and will miss out on the prestigious competition. It left many soccer fans heartbroken that the USWNT’s key player won’t appear in the competition. Thus, her teammates and fans showed support on Instagram after her heartwarming post. Soccer stars like Megan Rapinoe, Sophia Smith, and the legendary Carli Lloyd gave their tributes on social media. Her husband, Dansby Swanson, reacted to the post too.

Swanson was carted off yesterday during a friendly against Ireland. But later, the tests revealed the severity of the injury. She tore her patellar tendon in her left knee. It would keep her out for some time as she gave an update about the surgery. 

Megan Rapinoe and fans react to Mallory Swanson’s injury

Notably, Mallory gave an update about her injury after revealing her emotional mindset in an Instagram post. She captioned, “This is hard. I’m in shock and don’t have much to say other than, thank you to everyone for the messages. I feel the love and prayers, and holding them close to my heart. Surgery this morning was a success. I’m thankful for my trainers, doctors, coaches, and teammates for their help throughout this process. The beauty out of all of this, is that God is always good. He’s got me and always has ♥️.”

To this, her husband playing for the MLB team Chicago Cubs, Dansby Swanson, reacted, “The strongest woman I’ve ever known. I love you ❤️.” Likewise, Megan Rapinoe got into the act as well as she captioned, “Love you big lil sis! ❤️ain’t no doubt you got this! 😤.”

Likewise, her teammate Sophia Smith got into the act by acknowledging her importance to the team. She stated, “Love you sissy. forever the 11 to my 7 🥹❤️.” USWNT legend Carli Lloyd also showed her support for the player by sending three heart emojis. 

The USWNT is in dire need of a quality replacement as they pursue their 5th World Cup win in their storied history. So who is in line to replace the forward at the prestigious tournament?

Losing a player who was at the peak of her powers is hard. She scored four goals during the SheBelieves Cup and showcased her dominance in the tournament. But now, other players need to step up in her absence. Many believe 18-year-old Alyssa Thompson will be the driving force for the USWNT. The depth of the USWNT squad is fascinating. Alex Morgan, Ashley Hatch, Sophia Smith, and Megan Rapinoe can all step up to score goals.
