The journalist, Álvaro Morales, explained how the officials had rigged the system. Following that, the journalist explained how most decisions by the referees did not go the Mexican club’s way.

He tweeted, “Now, man, give the title to MLS and Messi’s Inter or whoever you want. Pure knife against the LIGA MX clubs. It is not justification, but they took two valid goals away from América today when they dominated the most. Stop hypocrisy.”

He further pointed out how the free-kick leading to Messi’s first goal made way for a perfectly scripted ending. Having him score an iconic goal, in his first debut match, in stoppage time would work wonders for the fans, the team, and the entire league. Therefore, the journalist claimed they could hand over the Leagues Cup to the MLS team.

Can Lionel Messi win a trophy this season?

For Messi, there are three tournaments he takes part in to lift his first trophy with David Beckham’s side. The first will be the MLS league. Nonetheless, the situation there is a mess as the club needs to pull off a miraculous run to make the playoffs. They lie 15th in the Eastern Conference owing to a mediocre start at the beginning of the season. On the other hand, they face Orlando City tomorrow in the Leagues Cup Round of 32. Looking at the current squad, they can go deep in the tournament.
