The preparations for the pre-season continue in full swing for Wrexham AFC. After losing the opening game and clinching a win in the second against Chelsea and LA Galaxy II respectively, the Welsh side went to play yet another curial match. This time, against Manchester United. And the good news is that they managed to win it, but eventually, it came with a huge blow.

Likewise, the match came with a lot of ups and downs. While they managed to thrash Erik Ten Hag’s side 3-1, right from the start, an unfortunate incident took place. A strong collision resulted in the medics having to assist Paul Mullin in leaving the field. In the meantime, instead of celebrating the win, Reynolds was busy thinking about Mullin.

The first half was quite dramatic. While the Red Dragons may have ended it with a 2-1 lead, it came at the cost of losing their star player, Paul Mullin. Unfortunately, the injury came after the 28-year-old rumbled with Nathan Bishop, thus forcing him to leave the pitch. Fans were outraged, as the Welsh striker had to be rushed straight to the hospital. However, after the match, manager Parkinson confirmed that the Welsh striker has suffered a punctured lung.

The win may have diverted others’ minds off Mullin’s injury scare, but not Reynolds’ mind. The Deadpool star was extremely worried to see his most crucial player getting stretched off the field. In fact, just after the match ended, instead of reacting to the win, the actor had a message for Mullin. He posted the picture of the incident and wrote, “Paul Mullin puts his last drop of blood into everything he does. The entire @Wrexham_AFC community is pulling for a speedy recovery.”

Reynolds hailed Mullin’s optimism, stating that the striker gave everything on the pitch. He insisted that the Welsh goal-scorer fought like a warrior till the end. In conclusion, the Canadian also wished him a speedy recovery. Indeed, it is a huge upset that Reynolds and Co. have suffered.

For now, everyone at the club must be shocked to hear about Mullin’s injury. Let’s hope he recovers soon, as it could disrupt the start of EFL League Two. Meanwhile, coming back to the game, the good thing is that they managed to pass the Manchester United test.

Wrexham AFC passes Manchester United test

Soccer fans might have different opinions about Wrexham’s win against Manchester United, but it was well-earned. In the dramatic first half, just after Mullin’s substitution, goals from Elliott Lee and defender Aaron Hayden gave Phil Parkinson’s side a perfect start. However, United was in no mood to see the League Two side end the match with a clean sheet, as they broke the deadlock in injury time thanks to a goal from Marc Jurado. Likewise, Wrexham started the second half with a fresh pair of legs as they overhauled their starting 11.

Interestingly, just at the start of the second half, Reynolds’ side got their payback for losing Mullin. Unfortunately for United, they went 10 men down as Daniel Gore received a red card in the 47th minute. The Red Devils tried to bounce back, but it was worth the try. Rather, it only gave Phil Parkinson’s side a chance to extend their lead as substitute Sam Dalby made it 3-1 in the 69th minute. Indeed, the win gives the newly promoted League Two side a much-needed boost before the new soccer calendar year begins. However, Mullin’s injury still makes it a bittersweet win.
