Can Spain recover from Morata's injury, or is their Euro dream shattered?

Spain is on cloud nine, with the team becoming the first finalist of Euro 2024. Despite being down by a goal against France, Luis de la Fuente‘s men turned things around to register a 2-1 win. However, the team’s win might have been spoiled during the post-game celebrations with their skipper picking up an injury.

According to reports, Spain’s captain Alvaro Morata might have picked up an injury following the game. With things getting wild following La Roja’s win over Les Blues, a member of the ground security staff slipped and fell on Morata, taking him down to the ground. Morata was said to be in pain and was reportedly struggling with his right knee as he limped back to the dugout.

This could be a big blow for head coach Luis de la Fuente ahead of the finals, with the team already missing some key names because of injury. Midfielder Pedri is already out of contention for the finals, with the Spaniard picking up a knee injury in the quarterfinal clash against Germany. If Morata’s injury is serious, it could be a big blow for the team as the veteran striker has been a key component in the team’s attack.

Euro 2024: Lamine Yamal shines as Spain show Kylian Mbappe the door

There were some big talking points from Spain’s comeback win over France. While many expected Kylian Mbappe to be the player to watch out for, it was Spain’s Lamine Yamal who emerged as the surprise package. The teenager ran riot as he put France’s defense in disarray. His maiden goal also served as a catalyst for Spain’s comeback, with Dani Olmo’s goal in the first half emerging as the difference maker between the two teams.

France and Mbappe have to be disappointed with their outing with Les Blues playing second fiddle to La Rojas for most of the contest. Mbappe, despite playing for the entire 90+5 minutes, failed to make the most of his chances with the player unable to keep his shots on target. Apart from Randal Kolo Muani, no other French player looked lethal in the attacking third.
