Did Toni Kroos' tackle on Pedri cross the line, or was it just part of the game?

It seems like the Euro 2024 dream might be over for Barcelona superstar Pedri! The Spaniard had to be taken off the field in the 8th minute of the contest after picking up a knee injury. The midfielder came into contact with Germany’s Toni Kroos in the opening minutes of the contest. Both players tried to go for the ball as Kroos got a foot on the ball, but his tackle saw the Spaniard take to the ground.

The Spaniard was quickly provided medical attention with the support staff tending to the player. While Pedri quickly got back to his feet, it might not have been the right choice. Just minutes after the tackle, the Barcelona man was once again down on the field, clutching his knee. Spanish head coach Luis de la Fuente made the obvious choice to take the player off the field as Pedri limped back to the sidelines to make way for Leipzig star Dani Olmo.

According to reports, the Barcelona star has picked up an internal sprain on his left knee. This might be an enormous blow for the player, as he could be absent from the team’s upcoming games if Spain makes it past Germany to secure a place in the semifinals. This could be a bad case of déjà vu for Barcelona fans, considering this isn’t the first time Pedri’s season has been left in shambles with an injury during international duty.

Pedri’s injury turns into an enormous blow to Spain and Barcelona

Spain’s victory over Germany has secured their place in the competition semifinals, which will undoubtedly please their fans. However, the team’s path could now be in jeopardy, with the team missing out on the services of multiple key names for the fixture. The team will now be without the services of their top three names for the fixture with both Pedri and Carvajal, also expected to miss the finals if Spain can get past the semifinals. Meanwhile, Barcelona fans will also be disappointed with the turn of events as Pedri’s injury is an enormous blow to their campaign.

The Spaniard always plays a key role for head coach Hansi Flick, and if the midfielder is out for an extended spell, Barcelona might be short of options when it comes to finding a replacement.
