Wrexham AFC will conclude their dreamy promotional season today against Torquay United in an away game.  Having confirmed reservation for the EFL League Two, Wrexham will be looking to end their season strongly, even if the game may be of little consequence. In preparation for the massive step up to the EFL, the club will be looking to build momentum and sign new players as they enter the English Football League after 15 years of exile.

Moments after Wrexham AFC got automatic promotion, Gareth Bale congratulated the owners, Reynolds and McElhenney. Little did the soccer icon know, that he would then be urged by the owners to come out of retirement and sign for the Welsh club.

Ex-NFL presenter has an apology for Wrexham fans

Ex-NFL presenter Laura Woods took to Twitter to spread her thoughts on the rumors surrounding Gareth Bale’s transfer. At UK Sports Industry Awards, Woods asked Bale about the possibility of him coming out of retirement and joining Wrexham. The former Welsh international’s answer led Laura Woods to apologize to fans.

Posting the picture from the show, Woods wrote, “Sorry Wrexham, I tried!“. Along with the bits of conversation she had with the Real Madrid legend about joining Wrexham. The former presenter asked Bale, “Could anything tempt you out of retirement, for example… Wrexham?” To this smoking bit of inquiry, Bale said, “No, I don’t think so. I was more looking for a free round of golf off Rob“.

Bale laughed off the rumor, although fans would have loved to have the former Los Blancos star playing at the Racecourse ground. However, Bale is not the only legend Wrexham fans are worried about.

Another legend’s stand unclear

Apart from the Welsh legend Gareth Bale, Wrexham fans are worried about another legend. Ben Foster came out of retirement to lead Wrexham to promotion after Rob Lainton sustained a season-ending injury. Although the contract only ran for the current season, fans are in favor of the former West Bromwich keeper staying for one more season.

In one of the clips during celebrations, Foster is seen saying to Ryan Reynolds, “Let’s do this again. Although Foster has refrained from giving a straight answer on this, it is possible that the soccer veteran sticks around with the Red Dragons for one more season.
