Two things changed in Chelsea at the start of the current campaign: Emma Hayes left for the USWNT while serial winner Sonia Bompastor joined the South London club. Safe to say, both worked very well for the respective clubs. Hayes won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics and Bompastor has hit the ground running. As a matter of fact, the French coach won her first three games and defeated Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium; something Emma Hayes didn’t manage to accomplish.
Significantly, the USWNT boss conquered Arsenal on multiple occasions, but not at the Emirates stadium in her 12-year tenure. It’s certainly a big deal, everyone. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool after nine years and Arne Slot had some big shoes to fill. Similarly, Sonia Bompastor came in with confidence as she faced a similar situation. Both have done extremely well and Bompastor had a message for Hayes.
According to the BBC Sport London X page, Sonia talked about Emma Hayes, who attended the match at the Emirates from the stands. She had a special message for the legendary manager. The reporter asked her whether she had any advice for Hayes after defeating Arsenal at the Emirates. But Sonia knows what Chelsea means to Emma and comes out with a humble response.

She stated, “You know she had so much success. She knew how to bring success to this team. So, I have nothing to tell her. For sure, yeah, she’s maybe happy with the win because she’s still like a Chelsea fan. But yeah, now she has a new job, and she is doing well. So maybe she has some advice for me.”
Her first biggest test and she passed out flying colors. Yes, it’s the Sonia era now.

The manager tactically outsmarted Arsenal manager, Jonas Eidevall, who is under severe pressure right now. They have 5 points from a possible 12 and the title contenders remain in 6th place. Meanwhile, Chelsea won all three games and lie second to Manchester City, who played an extra game.
Mayra Ramírez and Sandy Baltimore scored goals, putting the Blues in a commanding position. However, Caitlin Foord got one back for Arsenal before half-time, yet couldn’t add more. Thus, in front of possibly the greatest Chelsea manager of all time, Bompastor showed her unique qualities and tactical nous.

One trophy Emma Hayes failed to win was the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She came close in 2021 but lost to Lyon in the final. As for Sonia, she has the experience of lifting the trophy. Moreover, she is the only women’s player to win it as a player and a manager. It could probably be a masterstroke signing by Chelsea, who wants to achieve more.
As for Emma Hayes, she kick-started a new project with the USWNT and hopes to increase her legacy to untouchable status within the soccer fraternity. Let’s be honest, the two are talented managers!
