It’s been almost one and a half years since the 2022 World Cup final. However, while Argentina is parading on its laurels of yesterday, France is still struck by the misery of their failure. While the tournament surely affected teams, certain clubs also faced massive ripple effects in the aftermath. Well, PSG was evidently at the top of their list. After all, both Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe had to share the same dressing room just weeks after their high-voltage clash in Qatar.

It seems like Kylian Mbappe was not over the defeat at the hands of Messi’s Argentina. Ex-PSG star Javier Pastore shared a humorous anecdote from his time at PSG while talking with French media outlet LaNacion. Pastore commented on the Frenchman’s response to Messi winning the World Cup.

The former PSG star stated, “Well, with Kylian, yes. I saw him a couple of months after the final in Qatar, when PSG went to train and play a match. And I was in the locker room, with him, with Messi, with Ney. I congratulated him on the World Cup he had won and he told me: ‘Noooo, this son of a bitch Messi won the World Cup for us…’ As a joke, as if saying that Leo had won it alone.”

However, the comment was made in nothing but jest, with both players playing under the same crest. The two players put on a show together with each other following the World Cup before Messi left the club to join Inter Miami in 2023. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe is still with the club but is likely to part ways with the club come summer. Pastore discussed Mbappe’s future during the interview before praising the player for his work ethic.

Javier Pastore lauds Kylian Mbappe for his mentality!

The Ex-PSG star discussed his rapport with Kylian Mbappe while talking to the media outlet before lavishing him with praise. Pastore stated, “I spoke a lot with Kylian. He is a very focused boy: he lost a final, and the next day he was already thinking about the next thing he was going to win. He has an incredible mentality. I know him very well, I have a very nice relationship with him and he is a winner, he competes 100%. I’m surprised by how serious he is at that age.”

The former PSG star then compared Mbappe with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He added, “That seriousness had only been seen in Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. In new generations, it is very difficult to find the concentration and seriousness that Kylian has.”

Pastore’s words hold weight, as Kylian Mbappe has shown time and again that he’s willing to put on the work. The player has huge expectations on his shoulders this season, with PSG supporters hoping the player can lead the team to their maiden UCL title before his eventual departure in the summer.
