On 20th October 2022, soccer fans saw a buildup of a story they never thought they would see. Tensions had been rising in the corner of the Red Devils as they experienced a slower start to the season. However, in October, those tensions were about to burst out in the form of a fallout no one saw coming.

It was the 20th of October and Manchester United faced Tottenham Hotspur FC. In this seemingly normal game, Cristiano Ronaldo was benched by the new manager, Erik ten Hag.

In isolation, what happened next was very surprising. But, it has been building for a few months now. Cristiano Ronaldo not only left the pitch but, according to the Athletic, had left Old Trafford altogether. The relations that soured that day never had a chance to be fixed. As things kept on happening.

Fans are currently living about 5-6 month post that event, and it has been a crazy ride. But more than that, it almost made the dream of Ronaldo’s mother come true.

Ronaldo’s mother wanted him back in his former club

The October incident made Ronaldo and the club part ways after a fiery Piers Morgan interview in December. However, keeping in mind something like this might happen, Ronaldo’s mother requested his son. The request came in August 2022, around 4 months before it hit the fan.

Talking about her dream for her soccer legend boy in a podcast, Ronaldo’s mother said, “Ronaldo has to come back here. If it were my choice, he would already be here. He likes to watch Sporting games. I’ve already told him: ‘Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting.’ He says: ‘Let’s see’: But if it can’t be him, then Cristianinho!

This dream never became a reality thanks to a goliath of a deal Al-Nassr offered. Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother wanted him to play for her first senior club Sporting. Although, given the fact, her son is earning 200 million USD a year, she hopefully wouldn’t mind the dream being crushed.

Cristiano Ronaldo was almost aborted

In 2014, Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro released an autobiography in which she told the story of how Cristiano Ronaldo almost didn’t exist. She revealed that it was an unwanted pregnancy, and she did everything she could to try and get an abortion.

However, doctors disagreed, and despite her attempts, the abortion didn’t happen. For the joy of his over 500 million Instagram followers and the millions he inspires, Cristiano Ronaldo was born and ruled the soccer world for a long period.
