On Tuesday, Romeo made his debut for Brentford B. He was substituted in the second half of a 3-2 win over Erith & Belvedere FC. David Beckham, a legendary soccer player himself, was in the stands to watch his son’s debut in the country where the soccer icon achieved so much success in his career.

Romeo Beckham, son of David Beckham, impressed the coach

Romeo wasn’t able to get his name on the scoresheet. But he definitely made an impact with his performance and impressed Brentford coach Neil MacFarlane. After the match, MacFarlane had nothing but praise for the young Beckham. “Romeo really drove us forward in the wing back position,” he said. “He created some really good moments for us with some terrific deliveries. He had an opportunity to score as well and I was thrilled with him and the group in general for keeping on the front foot. We never gave up and we got through.”

Neil MacFarlane further added, “Our subs made an unbelievable impact and that’s what we want, everyone pushing each other and keep helping the group move forward because we had a brilliant 2022 and we just want to keep getting better in the new year.”

That time David Beckham’s son Romeo left soccer

Growing up in the Beckham household, it’s no surprise that Romeo developed a passion for soccer. In 2014, he joined the Arsenal academy in an attempt to pursue his dream of becoming a professional soccer player. However, fate had other plans for the young Beckham. In 2015, he was released from Arsenal. This made him leave soccer altogether, and he started playing tennis instead.

But in 2020, after a five-year break, Romeo decided to return to the game. In September 2021, he moved to the reserve team of his father’s MLS side, Inter Miami. He played there for two seasons and, in the previous season, recorded 10 assists for his team. Now, the young star is on loan to Brentford B team. And after seeing the compliments he received from the coach in his debut game, it is clear that the future career of this youngster will be one to follow.
