What has been going on with Lionel Messi behind-the-scenes fitness-wise lately? There are many speculations surrounding his fitness as the Argentine World Cup winner hasn’t played his last few games. Martino earlier suggested that Messi had ‘muscle fatigue’. However, a former MLS player turned ESPN pundit thinks there is something else going on behind the scenes. This comes ahead of Inter Miami’s game against Toronto in the MLS.

After the international break, the Argentine star has also been rested against Atlanta United. Subsequently, his team heavily paid the price on the pitch losing 5-2 on the night. Speaking on ESPN FC’s podcast, Ale Moreno reckoned that there could be some secret reason behind Lionel Messi’s fitness. Moreno said, “He’s calling it muscle fatigue, Tata Martino is. I call it there’s an issue here there is some sort of injury concern going on with Lionel Messi and that’s why he doesn’t make the trip to Atlanta that’s why he doesn’t go and play.”
Further exploring Inter Miami’s strategy with regards to Messi, Moreno added, “And because you’re Tata Martino and Inter Miami and you have said making the playoffs unlikely, what’s our priority: we just won League’s cup next thing is making sure that Lionel Messi is healthy and fit for the U. S Open final against the Houston Dynamo that is priority.”
That was not all. Moreno added more about how there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to Messi’s injury, “We’ll need message ready for that we don’t need him ready to go and play in Atlanta but that tells me that this muscle fatigue, it’s a little bit more than that; this is just a smoke screen to say yeah he may have done something to himself in playing with Argentina, did not play in that second game against Bolivia, did not play against Atlanta you know.”
The former Venezuelan international suggested that this could be a smoke screen from people in Messi’s camp. However, the truth and extent of Messi’s injury remain unknown. Be that as it may, while his injury issue is apparent, Messi and his family have finally settled well into their grand life in the US.
