Wrexham AFC‘s star striker Paul Mullin powered the team’s latest win against Colchester. But although co-owner Rob McElhenney took to Instagram and cheered Mullin and the team, he was absent to witness Mullin’s masterclass and Wrexham’s come-from-behind win. Instead, the Always Sunny in Philadelphia star was in LA, watching the Lakers oust the Cleveland Cavaliers 116-97. Besides LeBron James‘ 24-point show, McElhenney chanced to watch Rong Krystal Niu a.k.a Red Panda’s masterclass of an acrobatic performance in the Crypto.com Arena. Seeing Panda, McElhenney couldn’t help but draw parallels to the 4x NBA champion.
McElhenney took to Instagram and posted a video of Red Panda’s halftime performance he captured from the stands. In the clip, Red Panda could be seen riding her seven-foot unicycle on the court. Enhancing the act, the Chinese acrobat was also balancing multiple ceramic bowls on her feet and her head. Awestruck by the stellar display, the Wrexham co-owner wrote “This woman is the LeBron James of whatever this is.”
Red Panda is indeed a familiar name for the NBA fans. After performing on numerous tours in China, Red Panda moved to Florida when she was 19. She chanced to debut for the NBA halftime show in 1993. She came in as a replacement for the original performer in an LA Clippers game on Thanksgiving Day. She took a break from the NBA performances in 2013 to feature in America’s Got Talent. She resumed her NBA adventures in the 2015-16 season.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds savor Wrexham’s milestone win
Wrexham initially trailed Colchester. It was Mullin’s goal that put the game on the Red Dragons’ court. Sweetening the game, Max Cleworth scored his first Wrexham goal which was the last nail in Colchester’s coffin. Ryan Reynolds took to Instagram stories to celebrate Mullin’s 100th goal and Cleworth’s maiden goal. Rob McElhenney shared the story on his Instagram handle. Notably, Paul Mullin is close to finishing the league as its top scorer for the third straight season. If he does it, he would be the first Wrexham player since Albert of the 1970s to scale that peak.

Furthermore, and most importantly, Wrexham is close to achieving their second consecutive league promotion. Last year, they ended a 15-year hiatus to feature in the EFL League Two. Now they are set for promotion to the EFL League One, as they are the second seed in the League Two table. The top three teams of the League Two table are eligible for promotion. Wrexham just needs to make sure they perform well in the remaining four matches of the season.
