Show of hands if you ever thought Cristiano Ronaldo would leave Real Madrid. We’d be lying if our hands weren’t up right now, but it’s in the Portuguese superstar’s nature to pursue excellence and seek bigger and better challenges. Then again, life goes on, and there’s no point in questioning his decision to leave Los Blancos. However, what does make us wonder is how Ronaldo is still helping Real Madrid make some good cash even after his departure.
It may have been over 6 years since the 39-year-old bid farewell to Santiago Bernabeu but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t remain a part of legacy. Then again, what does have to do with RMA trying to capitalize on the name of Ronaldo even after his absence? Well to break the ice, you all know that the Spanish giants’ iconic stadium, Santiago Bernabeu, underwent significant changes. And by changes, we mean, completely revamping their home ground.
Typically, you all must have seen big clubs putting pictures and names of all the players that are a part of the team on the locker room. Fiorentina Perez and Co. had also made a brilliant locker for their icon Cristiano. However, during the process of their latest renovations, some of its sections were dismantled to add some state-of-the-art features, including the very place where CR7 used to put his stuff.

Don’t worry- it’s not like the club had destroyed Ronaldo’s locker room. Instead, Real Madrid decided to preserve it and are rather auctioning it. Mind you, it is being done with a complete set, including his photo, name, and locker space for a price set at, you guessed it right, $13,000. This gives a chance to all the ardent fans to get their hands on the very exclusive locker that Cristiano Ronaldo used for over 9 years.

Wait for the bonus; it’s not just the Al Nassr forward’s locker that is being auctioned. The locker of other players who had left before or after Ronaldo and which Real Madrid hadn’t dismantled will also get auctioned. While it’s unclear who all’s locker has been put to action, we reckon there can be renowned names like Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.
Then again, it’s not clearly mentioned whose lockers are on auction alongside Cristiano Ronaldo’s. Notably, people who are interested in buying this can mark the date as the auction will begin on November 12th. The rest of the details shall be provided by the club.
What’s your perspective on:
Is auctioning Ronaldo's locker a brilliant move by Real Madrid or just a cash grab?
Have an interesting take?
Be that as it may, it is indeed, quite a heartwarming gesture from Real Madrid. Of course, preserving his locker is the least they could have done for a player who gave so them much in return.
