The past month or so has not been a celebratory phase for the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. Amid the passing away of his wife and also the loss of Sir Bobby Charlton, the spirits could be assumed to be a bit low. However, with the recent event, Sir Alex is back to smiling, which is a good moment for the fans. According to reports, Sir Alex won the Bahrain Open.

The legend was back in Bahrain after 37 years to attend the event. The Bahrain International Trophy is a yearly event held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Sir Alex had gone into the race with his homebred from Upperwood Stud Farm, Spirit Dancer, an offspring of the legendary sire Frankel. The horse won the $1 million event despite not being the favorite among many other high-caliber horses.

Sir Alex himself was surprised by the win and said, “That is the best ever, without doubt. Against all the pedigrees and forms of all the other horses, that’s fantastic; I couldn’t believe it.” Earlier in August, he won the Group 3 Strensall Stakes at York, his biggest win previously. It looks like the Scottish manager has a second legacy in the making after his Manchester United stint.

Ferguson’s legacy at Manchester United

It looks like Sir Alex missed winning trophies. His last one came in the 2012–2013 season when Manchester United won its last League trophy. The legendary manager was the first to lead an English team to a treble in 1999. His career, spanning from 1986 to 2013, saw him win 13 Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies.
