It’s just a matter of time until Kylian Mbappe becomes a Real Madrid player. After countless merry-go-round sagas, the Frenchman is finally heading to Bernabeu to complete his dream move. Even though the 2018 World Cup winner is coming for free, intrigue revolves more around the financial aspect of the deal. Today, we’ll dive deeper into the wages, signing bonus, and other incentives that Mbappe will be earning at the Spanish capital while comparing it with Jude Bellingham’s transfer fee.

First, let’s get down on the agenda and know the monetary perks that Kylian Mbappe will be enjoying at Real Madrid. As per Sky Sports, the 25-year-old is set to pen a 5-year deal. He will be receiving an annual base salary of £12.8m ($16.3m) after taxes. The former Monaco man will also receive a signing-on bonus of just over £85m ($108m). Comparing it to Jude Bellingham’s transfer fee, well, just add another $10m to Mbappe’s signing bonus. The former Borussia Dortmund man was snatched by Madrid for $118m including all the variables.

Interestingly, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano earlier made some interesting claims about Mbappe’s pay scale. He said that it would be in the same region as the salary of Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham so as to ‘not create an internal problem,’ an estimated figure of €25m [$27m]. Romano also revealed a signing bonus of €100m ($108m) to be paid over 5 years, with €20m ($21.5m) each year. While the salary has been reported significantly by current sources, the bonus looks the same.

Either way, these are quite decent numbers that Mbappe will be pocketing while donning the white jersey. But the biggest question of all now comes up is if it’s a downgrade or an upgrade for the striker compared to his previous pay.

Will Kylian Mbappe earn more at Real Madrid than at Paris Saint-Germain?

If Kylian Mbappe were to receive the aforementioned pay at Real Madrid, it would indicate that he accepted a pay cut. Notably, in the final year of his PSG contract, the winger earned €75m ($80m) gross, along with an annual €30m ($32m) signing-on bonus. It appears that Mbappe isn’t receiving any special treatment compared to other Madrid stars. But on the other hand, it’s quite justified on Los Blancos’ front.

Carlo Ancelotti and Co. have to cater to other of their star players as well. Meanwhile, Mbappe, who netted 256 goals in 308 appearances at Parc des Princes, was Parisian’s best player in the team. Hence, they had no choice but to offer him lucrative pay to fend off the interest of other clubs. But that seemed to have backfired as Kylian Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid now.
