Despite this, Benzema is yet to find the back of the net. Now, Nuno Espírito Santo, who took charge as Al Ittihad’s coach last year, has made a surprising statement about his star striker.

The Portuguese coach recently issued a statement to the club board expressing his reservations about Benzema. Santo revealed that he does not believe the Frenchman fits into his tactical style. Their relationship has been strained given how Santo was not keen on signing him in the first place.

Furthermore, when Benzema requested the captain’s armband, Santo promptly refused, adding further tension to their relationship. The strained dynamic between the coach and the striker has reportedly left Benzema feeling uncomfortable in his new environment.
